Smiling Model

No matter how hard we try to stay in shape and tone up troublesome areas, many of us are still left with stubborn excess fat that refuses to go away. If you’re looking to slim down pockets of fat without surgery, needles, or anesthesia, you may be the perfect candidate for CoolSculpting, available to Toronto-area residents at Bertucci MedSpa in Vaughan.

If you think CoolSculpting may be right for you, you’ve come to the right place for answers to all your questions, from how the treatment works to what to expect when having it done.

What Is CoolSculpting & How Does It Work?

CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical body contouring treatment that targets excess fat through a process called cryolipolysis. When fat cells are reduced to a low enough temperature, they die off and are naturally flushed away by the body. Because fat freezes at a higher temperature than other tissues, CoolSculpting can safely achieve this without causing any harm to the surrounding skin or muscles.

What Does CoolSculpting Treat?

CoolSculpting is ideal for treating localized pockets of stubborn fat on areas including:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Back
  • Thighs
  • Calves
  • Upper arms
  • Under the chin

In general, CoolSculpting can effectively treat most areas of the body with “pinchable” excess fat. If fat under the chin (or a “double chin”) is your primary concern, you may also be a candidate for BELKYRA injections.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

Because CoolSculpting is noninvasive, it’s safe for most people. It’s important to note that CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment, nor is it a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. You may be a good candidate for CoolSculpting if you are at or near your goal weight and want to slim down certain lumps or bulges in your silhouette.

What Can I Expect During a CoolSculpting Treatment?

Your CoolSculpting treatment will begin with an in-depth consultation with your medical aesthetician about the goals you’re looking to achieve and whether CoolSculpting is the best option to help you achieve them. After designing your treatment plan, your technician will place the device’s applicator over your targeted area. You’ll feel some suction as the applicator attaches, followed by some intense cold that will soon fade to numbness.

For the rest of your treatment, you’ll be free to relax, read, and even nap. Most sessions take about an hour per treatment area. When your technician removes the device, you may feel some tingling and a “thawing” feeling as your treated area warms back up.

What Is CoolSculpting Recovery Like?

One of CoolSculpting’s greatest benefits is that it involves little to no recovery time. After your appointment, you are free to return to your usual routine, including exercise, right away.

You may notice some redness and sensitivity in your treated area, but this should subside within a day or so.

When Will I See Results After CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting results develop gradually. It may take anywhere from 1 to 3 months for your final look to take shape. Barring any major fluctuations in your weight, you can expect your result to last for years.
