Smiling Model

Thermage is an innovative way to treat lax skin that’s lost its resilience due to aging and sun damage. Using the power of radiofrequency energy, Thermage encourages the healthy growth of new collagen for skin that’s noticeably firmer and younger-looking.

Our experienced team of laser technicians blends technical knowledge with cosmetic artistry to create the best possible results for our Thermage laser skin tightening patients in Vaughan and around Toronto.

What Is Thermage?

Thermage is a completely non-invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen production, improving your skin’s overall tone and texture on areas including:

  • Jawline
  • Eyelids
  • Hands
  • Neck
  • Forehead
  • Abdomen

At our practice, we primarily use Thermage on regions of the face prone to early ageing, such as the jawline and eyelid area.

How Does Thermage Work?

Collagen is a protein found naturally within our bodies, and it’s vital to keeping skin soft and resilient. But as we age, our bodies naturally produce less collagen, and the collagen that we have degrades, leading to the development of wrinkles and sagging.

Thermage delivers radiofrequency energy to the deep dermis without damaging the surface. The heat energy tightens existing collagen and promotes new collagen growth for results that develop for up to 6 months. Thermage is a safe, effective way to enhance skin at the deeper levels where topical products can’t penetrate.

Is Thermage Right for Me?

Thermage doesn’t use a laser, so it’s a safe option for people with a variety of skin tones and types. Although Thermage can’t generate results that are equal to a surgical facelift, it can create a significant improvement for men and women who are bothered by signs of ageing and laxity.

During your comprehensive consultation, your laser technician closely examines you to determine if Thermage is the right option for your skin concerns. In some cases, the results of Thermage can be enhanced with BOTOX COSMETIC®dermal fillers, or certain laser or light procedures, such as Secret Pro.

What Is It Like to Have a Thermage Treatment Done?

Thermage is a nonsurgical skin tightening treatment, which means it doesn’t require needles or surgery. Most people find that the treatment isn’t painful, but some report discomfort or a strong sensation of warmth. At Bertucci MedSpa, we offer several options to enhance your comfort during your treatment with Thermage.

To perform Thermage, a qualified medical team member first cleanses the treatment area and applies a temporary grid to your skin. A coupling fluid is then applied to ensure consistent contact between the skin and the Thermage handpiece. Short pulses of targeted radiofrequency energy are delivered to the deeper layers of the skin through direct contact with the Thermage handpiece. Most appointments last between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the areas to be treated.

What Is Recovery Like After a Thermage Treatment?

Following treatment with Thermage, you won’t require time to rest or recuperate. Instead, you can get right back to your regular activities while your skin goes to work repairing itself. Some people report mild side effects, including redness and swelling, but these typically go away within a day. Although some noticeable improvement is immediately visible, the results of Thermage gradually develop over the course of 4 to 6 months.

How Long Does Thermage Last?

We often recommend follow-up treatments every 6 to 12 months for optimal results. By combining good skincare habits and using medical-grade products, you can enjoy the benefits of healthy-looking skin for years.

How Much Does Thermage Cost?

The price of a Thermage treatment at our Toronto-area med spa varies from person to person, depending on the size of the treated area and the number of treatments needed. We will provide you with a personalized pricing estimate at your consultation.
