What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is a unique procedure intended to stimulate new collagen production and re-energize your own cells to rejuvenate themselves. It is a medical procedure that involves using a concentrated form of your own blood plasma, which is rich in platelets. Platelets contain growth factors and other proteins. When injected back into the skin, it accelerates the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin to help improve overall skin quality. PRP may also be helpful in reversing hair loss and by stimulating new hair growth.

How is PRP treatment performed?

During the procedure, a small sample of blood will be drawn from your arm. The sample is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from other blood components. Using a fine needle or cannula, the PRP solution is injected into the area of concern. For example, we inject PRP into the scalp to treat hair loss, and into the face for skin quality improvements.

How many sessions will I require to treat hair loss?

The number of PRP sessions needed for hair regrowth can vary from person to person. Some individuals may begin to see improvement after a few sessions. We recommend beginning with a series of three (3) PRP sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are recommended once every 4-6 months, depending on the response to treatment.

Benefits of PRP treatment:

  1. Hair Regrowth: PRP treatments help stimulate hair follicles, promoting hair growth and increasing hair thickness.
  1. Collagen Stimulation: PRP treatment stimulates collagen synthesis, which improves skin quality and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
  1. Safe and Natural: PRP treatments use your body’s own growth factors, reducing the risk of side effects and complications that you may get with other treatments.
  1. Downtime: There is minimal downtime associated with PRP treatments. In the vast majority of cases, you can return to work or resume daily activities shortly after treatment.

Who Are the Ideal Candidates for PRP Therapy?

PRP is safe and effective for most individuals. PRP may not be ideal if you have pre-existing medical conditions such as platelet dysfunction, anemia, low platelets, etc. Individuals who have extensive hair loss or advanced balding may not experience any benefit. PRP treatment should also be avoided in patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
